Need help with Cloakshot?
Tell us which device you use, what went wrong, and what you were doing when it happened. Redact screenshots first or recreate the problem with made-up data.
Getting started
- Open Cloakshot and choose a photo. For a first try, use an image with made-up data.
- Cloakshot flags possible sensitive text, faces, QR codes, barcodes, and photo metadata on your device.
- Review every highlighted region and the rest of the image yourself.
- Adjust or add masks, choose which metadata to remove, then export a separate redacted copy.
Start from the Share menu
On iOS, select one PNG, JPEG, or HEIC image in Photos or another compatible app. Tap Share, then choose Cloakshot. You may need to enable it in the Share Sheet.
The extension has a simpler review screen. Choose Edit in Cloakshot for the full scan and mask editor. Sharing a copy directly from the extension needs Pro or an active trial.
On Android, share an image from a compatible app and choose Cloakshot to open it in the main app's review screen.
Free tools and Pro
You can scan images, check the suggestions, and edit masks for free. Saving or sharing a redacted copy needs an active trial or Cloakshot Pro Lifetime, which you buy once. Open Cloakshot Pro to check trial availability on your device.
The 14-day trial needs an online device check, but no account or payment details. It does not renew or turn into a purchase. When it ends, scan and review stay free; you can buy Pro separately to continue exporting.
If you already bought Pro, use Restore Purchases in Cloakshot Pro while signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account used for the purchase. Purchasing and restoring access require an internet connection.
Photo access
The app only needs access to the images you choose. If selection is unavailable, open iOS or Android Settings, find Cloakshot, and check photo access.
Scanning and privacy
On iOS, scanning uses Apple Vision. Android uses bundled ML Kit. Cloakshot also applies local rules and bundled models, and it does not upload images or detected text.
You don't need an account. The app has no ad tracking, developer-operated behavior analytics, or crash-reporting SDK. RevenueCat checks anonymous Pro purchase status, and starting a trial needs an online device check. Android ML Kit may send Google diagnostic and usage metrics, but not images or scan results. Detection limitations
Automatic detection can miss something or mark the wrong area. A scan with no findings is not a privacy guarantee. Check the whole image and add a manual mask for anything the app missed.
